drives & driveways

The process of laying a driveway requires experience,  expertise and most importantly,  excavating!   If this important step isn't completed correctly,  you will find yourself needing to start the whole process again in a few years.

Combining meticulous attention to detail,  with the very best materials from leading suppliers,  Blackstone civil engineers can help you create that perfect,  unique and long-lasting driveway.

paths & patios

Firstly a solid compacted sub base is created,  then slabs are laid onto a solid bed of concrete and pointed with a wet mix or resin pointing.   All types of paving and patio slabs can be supplied,  including pre-case concrete,  natural slate,  granite,  sandstone or limestone.   Where necessary Blackstone Civil Engineering can also add drainage and retaining walls. . .  and,  as a fully licensed waste carrier,  all spoil will be removed to a licensed landfill or recycling facility.

pools & hot tubs

The construction of a swimming pool demands excavating equipment that is able to access restricted spaces,  and that means a mini or micro-digger!   The hole should be excavated 2-3 meters wider and at least 30 cm deeper than the swimming pool itself in order to create enough space for the necessary formwork and concrete base. . .  a simply impossible task without mechanical assistance.

Ideal for those who have trouble climbing steps up to a hot tub,  sinking a tub or swim spa into a specially excavated hole is the best option.   Sunken or semi-sunken hot tubs allow you to simply slide in and out,  without having to clamber!

Both projects,  of course,  create a significant volume of spoil to be removed.

ponds & water features

Water features add a fabulous focal point to any garden or landscape project.   Whether you are looking for a small pond or a water fall style stream,  Blackstone are able to design,  excavate and construct custom water features using materials to match the current environment.

Wildlife ponds are especially designed to attract a variety of different wildlife and create a valuable ecosystem within your garden for you to experience and enjoy.   Although excavated material is often used to countour garden levels,  there is inevitably a need to remove spoil from the site using Blackstone's Waste Carrier Licence.
